where cat chases mouse

don't be a lost cause

or you'd be forced to pause

... a game

between death and his dame

it's hard staying sane

when you keep driving off the lane

Life is...

... a drive

that energy you need to strive

that breath you take before a dive

life is...life

Are you real

as the tear shaped drops of rain

on my window

you cloud my judgement

like stormy weather on a spring day

i can't see you but hear you

as loud as thunder

I enjoy the rain

so it's no wonder i was blown

away by you

as invisible as the wind

yet leaving me flustered

taking my breath away

swoosh..there it goes

Unpredictable as the weather

i anticipate your every move

you make me ponder

over and over

things that hardly matter

worrying about time some time later

amusing me with your behaviour

If invisible beings were true

that would explain you

by and by day by day

you make me sway

like treetops on a windy day

i wish you were real,

that is all i pray.

Flash!

Click! Click!

He captures her every curve

even the sweat trickling down her back

he clicks while she arches her back

head tilt back...

twisting her body in seductive angles

whilst thinking, "Damn, i haven't paid the bills,

anther night studying under the candles."

Flash!

The car lights dim as Benjamin pulls up

he eyes her from the plastic diamonds on her neck

to the clear stilettos she wears.

She leans over the window...

waiting for an invitation to jump in,

he nods...she get's in,

they drive out into the dim.

Flash!

The lights are bright again,

she's back in front of the shiny black camera

this time to be recorded and packaged in a black box

to be watched at home in your idiot box

like those Japanese girls, she's only in her socks.

She shakes her goodies

barely out of her teens

ready to be the focus of grown men's wet dreams.

Flash!

She stumbles on the stage

nervous as her hand jitters

holding the mic that could save her,

the mic that's gonna make her,

the mic that could break her.

She bellows out a tune

that shuts the room,

for money and fame, so she can fly high like kites

she's just another victim of those flashing lights.

Flash!

Addicted to the glare

nothing can move her

except if you're ready to stare.

She craves attention (There goes Lindsay!)

whether on her booty (Shake that Beyonce!)

or her psychology (She shaved her head again, Britney?)

or even her broken marriage (Oh poor Whitney...)

Like her we crave presence

to satisfy our urges,

waiting for some pretty thing

to take us to the furthest.

In front or behind,

were all victims of those flashing lights

cause again and again, over and over...

they so effortlessly blind our sights.

Fairy Lights

The light shone through

creeping between cracks

escaping from the darkness

She emerged like the weather

suddenly, and then only

to quickly disappear

Like light through cracks

she effortlessly finds a way out

EXIT

Billowing in the wind

her robe covers her shoulders

that carry the burden of tomorrow

She lingers between gates of time

keeper of lost things

she sings crying out

for lost dreams

RUN

Away now darkness!

you are here too soon

she fled only moments ago

between the cracks of the door

between the gates of tomorrow

now where will she go?

as i had many late bills to pay.

for me to do my last minute dance.

The Teller of Stories

She yearns for tenderness and comfort,

in a foreign land with no earthly dirt,

gathering thoughts as she does daffodils,

she floats around between wind mills.

Swift strokes of God's brush,

keeps her stories to a hushed shush,

she can only keep warm in the lion's den,

unable to scream as loud as she can.

She spends her days dreaming of flight,

in the thunderous silence of night,

alone and forgotten is the storyteller,

till she ponders whether or not to surrender.

this is when I write.

Of fairy tales and dreams,

of heroes and fiends.

when only the crickets creak,

I am awake..

It didn't start out like this...

as you know we were friends,

chilling at each other's cribs,

but now you talking as if

I got some disease,

acting as if i was the thief.

I told you that what we had was weird,

but special... no not like that, but you know...

insisting on making me think otherwise,

brainwashed... thinking you were worth the price

I don't regret knowing you...

I learnt lessons I couln't even afford

so let me thank you for your efforts,

now their just running in my head like adverts,

reminding me not to bow down to my comforts.

Sucked into a vicious cycle

mostly because we both became fickle,

bouncing on and off the court

knocking the door of the last resort

tired of keep having to retort

just to protect my god damn fort.

I may secretly be inclined to fix things,

but am openly wishing I had silver wings

so i could leave you and this drama behind,

cause now i have more important things to mind.

That was then, and this is now,

i'm slowly making sense of it all

tiringly investigating this fall.

Even if I don't ever put the pieces together,

the signs have always shown that

we were always destructive for each other.

Public enemies was written as our fate

I'll nod to you from the across the street,

hoping to wipe shit off our slate

tired of the pain, i'll be the one to retreat.

Lost Prophet

As I drift of into the day

my conscious leaves me stranded,

the oasis that is the day

I leave behind to explore the desert instead.

Here I walk for days and sleep for nights

to find what has been nearly never found.

So i gather courage and plunder on

collecting treasures in my torn pocket,

leaving an obvious trail behind.

Keepers of the Past smile sinisterly

as I travel on the road less taken,

like vultures they count the hours,

like a hero, I refuse to be forsaken.

The Colorful Race

He looked at her and only blinked, while she barely glanced at him while walking over the bridge. Her face as if etched out of stone gleamed under the noon sun. Her hands light as feathers looked graceful as she drew shapes from her fingers. The colour of ripe fruit, so yellow was she. He swallowed his own breath and clenched his fist with dread. His skin glistened with sweat from working under the same noon sun. His dark luminous complexion worlds apart from hers. Yet their blood still ruby red, and breathe still the same clear blue air.

He closed his eyes, to feel her near. He knew it was her, by the song of her heart. No matter what they feared, colour of their insignificant skins would play no part. They spoke with eyes and words of the mind, heard by no one and seen by none. Sitting by the clear blue lakeside, green were her eyes and brown was his, but still only the blue lake could they see. They felt the same raindrops as they day neared its end, and ran on the same thorny path back into wicked reality. A faraway place only known to them, they hide so often, far away from the kaleidoscope of hateful colour.

They remain to this day, continuously running away, hiding from others who hunt them with pitchforks. When mother earth painted him and her, she did so for beauty and to match the earth where their mothers carried them from. Two nearly invisible creatures scavenge the lands to hide, away from the prying eyes, away from the spiteful words, away from hate. They seek for a place where love prevails. Where he need no more look at her and only blink.

Intoxicating

The fumes wrap themselves around her,

she doesn't feel their warm embrace.

No more far, instead now so near

this is such a special simple case,

she has just forgotten how to stear

now that she is in such a daze.

It hurts to loose those who are dear,

she hopes its only a phase.

The wispy fumes travel into her nostrils

they draw soft lines on the heavy air,

she hardly thought about how it easily kills

she shouldn't have agreed to the Devil's dare...

Now the wind has stopped and the air is still,

so is it safe for her to stop and stare

to take a step back, close her eyes and feel,

the air so still...

The clock is ticking

as time begins moving,

the music is playing

as they begin dancing,

the people are staring

as she is falling..

into the deep.

Everything is disappearing

as the air is intoxicating.

Love Prevails

I am unashamed to beat my chest and shout out loud

that what rules my heart and head inside and out,

is nothing but pure love, thats certain without a doubt

for am always breathing, seeing and living that love sound.

Many obstacles assume they can tie me down

with wretched rope and chains all around,

but I am a talented escapistonist escaping before dawn

while others rest peacefully, i'll be long gone.

I walk for miles and run head long into the oblivion

years, deacades and centuries on, I will run on and on and on,

fuelled with love as I always am, I will rule the world like no man

like the sun above the fields, I will smile at my land.

Oh love, sweet love am but a loyal slave to your bidding

I am not in love with love itself, that may be misleading,

alas am intoxicated by the fumes of my loved one's being

he stands tall above the rest whenever am keen on seeing.

Alas! I will give in no more to pain and sorrow

I will throw my arms in the air and jump today not tomorrow,

into the arms of love so great and yet still mellow

for am no prisoner, but a willing wanderer in love's meadow.

Cracked Mirror

Into the looking glass I peer

not to see a maiden so dear,

but instead to spit on my reflection

disgusted by my imperfection.

I changed my face today

to hopefully wash my sorrows away,

but instead I saw the same person

only tainted and broken.

My hands are bloody, my eyes soar

the nihilist laughs at my own fall,

the optimist now a cripple

shudders when she looks at her devil.

Once we laughed and sang

how I wish we were back to how it began,

I was once the hope and the light

now I regret taking that awful bite.

Into the looking glass I peer

so she wiped the sweat off my forehead and settled back,

i looked at her... and she stared back,

dazed in the aftermath...

we were so perfect like that...

so, i'm there lighting my cigarette,

listening to the midnight traffic outside my window,

when you want it... time never moves slow

like she... it just takes and takes and takes some more...

she looked up at me slyly,

just like how i like it... she does it to me,

so no wonder i was blind to see...

how she tempted and seducted me

she pulled me close, and teased me

she showed me her world and begged me,

"Come on in, it's warm 'here' you see"

so i was trapped 'there' you see...

her soft touch warmed me and enticed

her hard grip excited me

so like a dice...

i was thrown into a corner,

while she looked out for my number.

and all i could do was wonder,

and all i could do was wonder...

Spoken Word: Swimming In The Abyss

As I sit here, at the edge of my world

I let my legs dangle over this cliff,

looking into the thunderous ocean below

I feel all but stiff.

As my mind takes the plunge into the the deep blue...

I forget to breathe as my heart ceases to beat,

I dissapear into the misty vapours and become invisible

consuming my whole self into this selfless feat.

My mind goes through this familiar rabbit hole,

I expect to see alice falling somewhere around me

the kaleidescope of colours is too much to hold,

that I close my eyes... in order to truly see.

As suddenly as it all began, I begin to feel at ease,

my relaxation becomes exasperation and now exploration;

and so I venture forth into unclaimed but vaguely familiar territory.

Here I sense a wild, untamed and lethal temptation,

this feeling, this place and these sights

can only be explained through wingless words,

my faint presence is felt by none...,

and so I fly like one of those flightless birds.

This place of solace springs beauty from the ugly

it is not home, but I am intrigued by the habitat,

where creatures and plants are limited by only the imagination,

this is far from the Creator's normal format.

I am still some fluid wispy form floating by,

but needless to say that was the last thing on my mind,

I believed this deep Ecstasy whould quickly disappear

as soon as I started questioning this wondrous find.

If Utopia truly existed this would be it I presume...

music lightly plays in between random trails of thoughts,

the striking colours lash out to my less experienced senses,

I welcome the feared rainbow of explosive blots.

I fall so slowly and gently onto the path to Zion

where I crawl along the road less traveled for a better tomorrow.

I came here alone, but cant help taking mental pictures for those left behind

for if i could not repaint this picture, it would be like a commiting a crime.

The day creeps into the blackest of nights,

I have never enjoyed this purest form of loneliness

it wraps over me like the warmest of blankets.

As I dive into the sea of stars that dance around Mars and Venus;

need i be lost to be found at last in this escape?

Grasping at my ropes of my past and future,

entwining me to the vines of the universe,

cementing me into it's own unique architecture.

My words are blunt swords and arrows missing the bullseye

in explaining the exact sights, sounds and tingling emotions.

But i try,i'm trying and i will try to illustrate the perfection,

for if you let go and dangle your legs over the cliff, you too will drown in this potion.

So let go, and cease being fearful of the dark abyss,

dive into the inevitable end and swim among your creations,

the power of your mind holds secrets only ye can unfold

may you wash up on shore with all this and more.. and more.. more...

Explode

And so it begins...

it's night time, and my demons are out

they escaped through the cracks of light

wisps of smoke dancing in between the shadows.

Whispers turn to loud conversations

which then turn to screams

tired of collecting hushed secrets

now the cat's bag is bursting at it's seams.

And so it begins...

i'm running from the bushes

leaving behind these metal chains

turning back with a fleeting look

and then am running..and running.. running again

i refuse to be tempted to implode

flashing colours blind me as i speed across

i run to the set pace of my throbbing temples

hoping to find somewhere where nowhere matters..

he has brought tidings about our endings.

i watch my mother's face as it shatters

i watch the waves of the ocean by our door

as it crashes...

swift words take hours to sink in

as our minds relapse to the pains within

fragments of our lives lay scattered on the pavement

all beacuse of one solemn statement

picking up the very last pieces

i am preplexed by the audacity of God

what message does he seek to deliver?

with cruel intentions that paint him sinister

like pawns we sacrifice ourselves willingly

screaming 'Kamikaze is the way to be!'

the night is young as my ink bleeds into the sky

i will write till i sense morning has arrived

till daybreak etches itself onto my parchment, and dries..

gotta be so cliche,

beign all gypsy and complaining when they dont get their way"

So this is what i say...

you see i'm one of those hippie kinds,

digging dreadlocks and those three bands

of green, yellow and red...

you cant come close to match the books i've read!

including the ones i've at least glanced at the covers..!

i dig those ladies with long flowy dresses,

burning incents in their rooms...

and playing bongo drums to set the mood...

i like sitting alone in random spots

trying hard to decipher codes and connect dots.

so i like people who think the same way

and who are able to hit the mark...

with.. every.. single.. dart..

i like lighting candles and watching the stars

but i'm not of of those that hang around empty bars,

nevertheless i've heard there are some deep souls there!

drinking their inner demons away while leaving their hearts to bear.

my heart goes out to the rebels fighting for freedom

whether from congo, tibet or the like the last Mohican.

those dudes and dudets who are over-zealous and expressive

pull at my heart strings when they get so pensive...

for i am a poet, yes i am...

i'm one of those artsy kinds that hangs native art on her walls

one of those people that rather talk about football,

than actual play it!

i get high listening to incredible verses,

it takes me to my zone where i am nameless.

i am of those that nobodies lost in her own world,

thinking the world revolves around her,

and that she is the centre of the universe.

Predictably i believe in karma... and maybe also a lil bit of drama

and say things before i truly take time to think over them.

But i stongly believe that words are my weapons,

so dont come close or you might regret whatver happens.

I preach the "truth" to whoemever listens,

and i sing praises for rebels sticking it up to the man

for i am a poet, yes i am..!

so what if i'm cliche and do what is expected!

so what if i talk about myself, my pains and my life,

i dont see you coming up here and putting away your pride!

even if i may walk and talk and behave predictably,

even if recite poetry about that you've heard about so frequently...

i dont care!

for i am a poet yes i am..!

my shields are patterns of metaphors,

lines close together to confuse the predators...

my wings are of carefully sewn verses,

flying me higher and closer to the sun than Icarus...

for i am a poet thats what i am.

and i stick it up to the man.

Spoken Word : Mr Bogeyman; An Irrational Fear

he looms within us

slowly deciphering out mental state

he looms over us

slowly watching us eat from our dinner plates

then he looms before us

slowly waiting for us to make our big mistakes.

like a cunning shadow, he lingers close by

becoming clearer when the lights dim at night

you hardly notice him walking by

because he so deeply yearns to stay out of sight.

like a lone wolf, he hunts by himself

wandering the vast plains for his prey

to escape from his clutches, you have to know thyself

or best beware, and learn to pray.

he sits by the edge of darkness

and greets you when you attempt to cross a line

do not misjudge his faintness

or else you may loose wht is yours as is rightfully mine.

some of us try to run from him...

letting him impact our unimpactful lives,

he ties up our hands with all his lies,

and watches us suffer as we wait to die.

some of us try to hide from him...

under layers of fabricated stories,

we engulf ourselves in our handmade glories,

trying to create an illusion to confuse our worries.

you can run or you can hide

or you can look under the bed and say..'hi'

well thats what some of us do!

we confront him and embrace him and convert him into our lives,

for in order for you to climb those mountains or even bake those pies,

you gotta under the bed and say 'hi'

Hi Mr.Bogeyman,

excuse me but you're tormenting my supposed-to-be greatlife,

i cannot go on living under your blood-stained knife,

so listen here, i now know i'm ready for that dive,

i'm ready for my biggest gamble and i shall throw my own dice.

i never knew fear till i so effortlessly knew you,

but it's my own fault because i never quite grew,

am tired of willingly letting your shadow cast it's own shadow over me,

so you see, i'm no longer letting that be.

its time we take this feud outside,

its just gonna be you and me and don't worry i'm not bringing any cavalry,

like i said its just you and me.

straightening things out to how it should be.

So that day, i took him outside

and gave him a piece of my mind,

i said ....

look here, its time i left you behind,

this time i've made up my mind,

you are not to fool or temper with the signs

i'm letting you know i'm such a different kind.

see here, i have mountains to climb and polls to win,

i have places to go that i've never been,

i have things to do in this skin i'm in,

so am stopping you from letting yourself in.

I'm facing you now, because i'm ready

because i'm so awesomely rock steady,

and because i will no longer worry.

So be gone Mr.Bogeyman,

my slot on this stage we call life may end at any time,

before that let me reach out and take what is rightfully mine,

my opportunities are more precious than any dimond mine

so be gone,you can no longer live inside my mind.

The Running Vagabond

The sirens go off

i push through the emergency exit

and run up the alley.

I never know what am looking for

so this time, it's no different.

I must have ran as quick as lightning

because no one ran past me,

or was i too slow

that everyone disappeared

before i even started thinking?

Now that i've escaped from the danger,

do i scream for help or hide from it..?

The sirens are getting louder, getting closer...

I can feel the cold sweat starting to drip

from my throbing temples,

i breathe so heavily, it tires me.

Should i run? Should i stay?

Where are they?!

i run, i ran, i am running

away from the sirens, away from help

away from the now dieing cries...

past the the menacing buildings,

past the busy sidewalks,

past the over-friendly grocer and bakery,

past my old school and childhood home,

i run, i ran, i am running

Then i stop.

Just as suddenly as i began.

I never know what i'm looking for

so this time, it's no different.

The sun is blazing, yet i feel cold...

As i turn around and begin to head back,

i feel the shade of the cloud overhead,

protecting me from the sun's angry stare.

As always i take it to be a sign,

as always i trudge back to square one.

Spoken Word : The Peacock Lady

Every morning as the sun rises
she wakes up and gives her praises,
oh no, not to the many faces
but to the things that survived through the ages.
She gives thanks to the earth divine
by watering the plants that grow in the cracks of her mind,
people might think she's far from fine
but she was reborn when she crossed that line.

This peacock lady has a story to tell
of how she conquered the world by breaking the spell,
of how she was once trapped in her very own cell
till she heard the ringings of a faraway bell.
It all started in a dream, where she met the three
who unravelled the truth and made her be,
they whispered hushed secrets that held the key
to everlasting... ever fulfilling... serenity...

In this dream she woke up in an oasis
she spent days in the dream writing verses,
surrounded by beauty she built her new basis
letting the words flow she escaped from her crisis.
In reality she was troubled so frequently
the world was hers, yet she always sighed so deeply,
maybe for questioning suffering, religion or equality
till she answered them all... when she met poetry.

After rhyming to her hearts content
she was happy to see there was no need for repent,
so she walked to wherever the road bent
and stopped, at something that the heaven's sent.
Lo and behold there was a man in her dream,
a tall, dark and handsome one was he,
they talked about her poetry and being free,
this was how, she met love... oh so suddenly...

Hand in hand they walked through time...
enjoying the pellets of rain and the rays of sunshine...
she taught how lovely reality would be without crime
and wished she could go back and save her kind.
A world so treacherous, filled with hate, greed and lies
when will the pain stop? When everyone dies?
So to answer all the world's cries
she met peace, when she let herself go and learnt to fly.

She flew with with ease on life's gentle breeze
across the valleys, and trees and the seven seas,
to return home and answer her people's pleas
by sharing her story and at last, putting them at ease.
When she returned she was greeted by an unexpected turn
there was a peacock waiting beside her garden's fern,
he was proud and handsome and but looked concerned
worried that she might forget what she had learnt.

So as the days went by, this lady spread her message
she wrote about freedom, respect and lineage,
she shared the secret to survive life's passage
of how were all travellers without any baggage.
With the proud peacock watching over her so caringly
she lived her life in satisfying simplicity...
she didn't even mind when people called her the peacock lady,
for she had found herself through meeting... peace,love and poetry.

Formidable Foe

They are coming...

tonight in the dark

they will cry out and bark

hunting down their mark

i shall need more than luck.

They are coming...

i can hear them breathing

behind the bushes, they are hiding

patiently they are waiting

for me to tire from running.

They are coming...

my heart races inside me

Seeking Salvation

I was always told life was about balance

the same way i was told that living was a challenge

couldn't deny that that may have caused some damage

because knowing the truth didn't stop the carnage.

What if we were all born as equals on this stage?

and no one had to fight about race, gender or age

we could have lived peacefully without rampage

without having to lock our own brothers in a cage.

We were all born in his image they say

but now 'He' looks a certain particular way today

more like some and less like most they say

those who are less; obviously have to pay.

There is no remorse where dead bodies lay

instead there is greed that makes unwelcomed guests stay

to take way what is left at the now unwatched bay

in darkness the demon in man cunningly comes out to play.

When we come to the end there will be a revelation

most certainly the cruel will face certain damnation

for all the things they have done to 'His' creations

much worse than being banished from every nation.

This will spark a realization that we have been fed with fiction

the race of man would be free from its undying infactuation

with power and greed and lies and other fascinations

man would go back to the beginning by seeking salvation.

away from the evil so cunning?

you're a dead man walking

to that hanging noose waiting.

Everyday is as solemn as the last

where you painfully relive your past,

you feel like some kind of outcast

forced to dig your own grave fast.

Remember when merely surviving was a must

when temptation was only lust,

well its all now burned to dust

collect the ashes and let your metal bones rust.

The sun is shining bright

every word the book said was right,

you must have been blinded by the fight

distracted by their pitiful plight.

It must have been such a sight

to watch a strong man's might

taken away by something so light

crippled after taking a single bite.

If tomorrow was too late

would today seal your fate?

If you were supposed to be dead

would you have said things unsaid?

Your conscious mind has been paid

to let go and let things fade,

Masks

No one really likes the real me

they can never handle what they see,

no one appreciates my real beauty

they think its unclean and dirty.

No one feels comfortable in my true presence

they feel all choked up and start saying nonesense,

yet they keep begging me to show my real self

and the truth goes unheard since their all deaf.

Am tired of putting on all these masks

i used to only do it cause it helped juggle my tasks,

but when am at home and around people i love

i wish i could take it off as easily as i do a glove.

But it's better since everyone is comfortable and happy

by putting on a mask and being less filthy,

this mole hill is now bigger and far more absurd

am getting very impatient so pray let me be heard.

The story of my masks begins like this;

i had alot of things to do so there was a list,

mortal responsibilities along with immortal dreams

they were all bursting at their hand sewn seams.

So i started with trying out a single simple mask

before i knew it i was wearing it from dawn till dusk,

sooner or later my wall was filled with rows of them

gleaming in the night, that was when i knew i was damned.

Very soon it became such an easy habit

switching between masks to keep my life's lamp lit,

one acquaintance knew me as a simple pheasant

will the other thought i was a learned wizard.

Thinking they knew me like the back of their hands

they tried to use me as a pawn in their stupid plans,

i could care less cause i knew it was the right opposite

for it was them who were dancing to my enticing beat.

Now as the years have slowly crawled by

and my masks have done everything but cry,

its time to say that inevitable goodbye

time to release the truth and bury the lie.

Don't blame me for not trying before

i tried to show the ones i would die for,

but even they thought i was rotten to the core

when i showed them what i truly bore.

So when i breathe my last breath and leave this place

will i be wearing a mask or will be showing my own face?

i've been contemplating about the finish line of my race

will i run fast to stay ahead or slow my winning pace?

I have to do the right thing before it's too late

even though it'll probably garner nothing but hate,

i have to at least try to show my real slate

instead of leaving it to unpredictable fate.

Girl Meets Boy

One day, a silly girl played chess with a boy
and after that she didnt want any kind of toy,
instead she wanted to wait for the perfect time

to tell the boy, 'I wish you were mine.'

They say everything happens for a reason
even the slow pace of the changing seasons,
but when i met you that many seasons ago
i never guessed it would be all this and more.
I was never happy to readily give my heart away
eventhough i knew it was a small price to pay,
to have you in my arms and to hold you close
to be with the man my own heart so easily chose.

How would have it been i wonder...
if our paths had never crossed each others,
i'd like to think it was fate or destiny
or something more important and maybe less funny.
Whatever the reason might so well be
i am glad that it came to be,
for when i am with you i feel complete
when i'm with you my heart ceases to beat.

I dont care if others think i'm silly
for going about confessing my love so openly,
i hardly care what anyone or the world thinks
for am to busy listening to my heart as it sings.
I seemingly care less for both food and water
when it's you that constantly makes me ponder,
about life, love, philosophies and theories
that type of thing one mostly buries.

So to the boy who played chess so cunningly
it is his fault that i fell so deeply,
what else am to do but wait for him
to come back and play till life's lights dim.

Life's Lemonade

How often do people feel utmost joy?

like during Christmas, when you got that new toy,

that very elevated carefree feeling,

where you're so high you could touch the ceiling.

Most times my pen gets carried away,

describing thoughts few people dare say,

but the things in my heart are much less dark,

au contraire, they possess quite the spark.

My life is really very charming and beautiful,

i have family and friends that are way too cool,

still there's always one or two unfortunate days,

where all i want to do is retreat to one of my caves.

Yet in spite of it all am trully blessed,

to be more more happy than sourly stressed,

to have the chance to go to school,

or to simply laze around in a pool.

My life is such a fantastic fantasy,

its as wondrous and free as the blue sea,

day and night like any poet i stare at the sky,

and wonder how it would be if i could only fly.

I take care to enjoy the littlest of things,

not only for the utmost joy it brings,

i watch and think about the things around me,

constantly learning; for that is the only key.

Our lives are sometimes sour like lemons,

but most times sweet like lemonade,

it's true that all you need is balance,

to live a life you would never trade.

where tomorrow never comes too soon

because you're always surronded by gloom

even when you're in a perfectly lit room.

where all you think about is your doom

so you turn to God to ask for a boon

This is a place that escapes time and space

this is a place where you meekly hide your face

because it is the beginning of a very dark phase

and the sad bitter ending of those better days.

You wear your favourite dress of soft white lace

and cherish how your last piece of cake tastes

then silently walk with your empty suitcase

thinking, 'If only I had a few more days...'

Then He comes to you with a flashing smile

takes your hand while you're walking that green mile

you flinch for you know he is truly vile

just waiting to enter your name into his file.

The final walk seems longer than The Great Nile

even the shadows have moved on the ancient Moondial

then at last when you reach the very top of the pile

He smiles and says, 'This is where you will lie...'

A Poet's Soliloquy : In My Head

Every day I awake to a million voices whispering in my head. One voice rings out clearer than the rest. When I listen to this voice intently, it drowns out the cries of the others. Some days this voice rings clear and true, some days it just disappears so effortlessly. It goes missing when I turn to look for it. Why does it abandon me when I need it? Why does this North Star of voices come with such a cost?

The other voices sometimes sing in unison, like angels in the sky. Those same voices sometimes shriek like those demons from the underworld. Those are the million voices in my head. Every day they greet as I start my day, every day they kiss me goodnight as I fall asleep. Then even in my sleep they infest my sweetest dreams and cloud my worst of nightmares. They never leave me. Most times they suffocate me.

What do I do with these voices? Do I listen to one? Do I listen to them all? Do I ignore them? Should I feed them? Should I help them? This kind of torment should be some kind of punishment, and not taken daily like some kind of supplement. I look as calm as an unrippled lake, but I feel as if I’m in the midst of an earthquake. I am looking for a secret window to escape, point it out to me for your own sake. The longer you make me wait, the sooner you will meet your fate.

See now, blame it on those voices. Their making me loose my precious mind. My precious mind… Wait… Could it be? Could it really be?? That it’s not these voices… That their just plain old noises? Noises that drown out the truth; noises in this soundproof booth. The booth is my mind, and my mind is not kind, why could I not read the signs, was it because I forgot to read between the lines?

At last I knew it was too good to be true, my mind was always hiding the clues, I was blinded by the conventional rules, I never understood my voices cues. Alas wretched mind, it was you all along, playing me like a song, over and over again for too long, enjoying watching me being so lost and forlorn. But I understand now, I will no longer bow, this will be the last time you see me scowl, you’ve played your last foul. Goodnight cruel mind, you were definitely one of a kind. I know now to listen to my voices, I know now they were never mere noises.

As I reach for my gun, don’t you dare run, it’s no use to look for the sun, you’re done. Say your goodbyes... Stop your sighs, don’t waste your cries and bury those lies. As I pull the trigger, I wonder about the moments we’ve shared together, I always thought you made me better, now I know that you were just another hater. Die now and let me be, go to the depths of the sea, don’t ever come back to me, go now for I have set you free.

Release me. We are free.

Chasing Dreams

I am surrounded by light that blinds me, that shines on me, that consumes me. Amidst this light, it feels foreign but still good. Strange but still familiar. New but nevertheless exciting. I’ve always imagined it, I knew it would be like this, but not exactly like this. I’ve seen this play so many times before, as if I was acting in it myself. So calculated, so in tune, so perfect. It plays as well as an orchestra plays symphonies. I made this and now it’s done, I am here, at last. I made this feeling, and now I have it. I made this dream, I’ve chased it, and now I’ve caught it.

What if I never made it? What if I never imagined it? What if I never thought of it? Would I have ever reached these heights? Would I have had a peak? Any peak? Could I live without a mountain to climb? Would i? Would I choose to do it all again? To create this stage, to imagine this victory, to feel this triumph… to stand amidst this light once more. Could I? Would i? If it came from my head, shouldn’t I relive it every day? Instead of setting my own parameters, shouldn’t it already be in the palm of my hands? Not something far away, where I have to fight across to. So what do I do?

What are dreams? Where do dreams come from? Where do they belong? When do dreams come true? Do I need a dream? Do I want one? Why do I dream? What if I never dreamed? What if I never built castles in the air? What if I lived every day without chasing something I made up? Rather to live every day the way it is, walking along rather than running and chasing an abstract form. The more I chase, the more this form becomes concrete. The faster I run the harder I hit that very concrete wall. I am then in the room I created, the room I built, the room filled with light.

I could run, but I don’t want to. I could win, but I don’t want to. I could have it all, but I don’t want to. Not anymore. Not like this. I’ve had it all, all along. I still have it, I can make it appear and disappear as much as I like. I can stand in the light as often as I want. I could have always done it. Makes me want to laugh and cry! But I won’t, I don’t have to. Instead I’ll just smile, as I walk into my light, where I will always be. Never to leave. Here is my light, here is my peace, here is me. Here is where I will always be.

It's just like any other night,

I stand waiting under the spotlight.

On cue, the music explodes into the air,

like a lion, I then proudly step out of my lair.

Those infectious beats create an euphoria,

and I just start breaking into a hysteria.

Impossible to take control, I let go,

into the night, I keep asking for more.

Slipping into an unbreakable trance,

everyone disappears; so no one sees my dance.

My heart throbs in my ears,

as I pump out every one of my fears.

The music makes me move,shake and break my body,
